Mini Hull Mega Power

How Minijet Inc., a Canadian custom jet boat builder, is redefining performance with Belassi's most powerful Marine Power Unit
At Belassi, we’ve always been driven by a simple ambition: to deliver uncompromising performance through engineering excellence. Today, we’re proud to share a new milestone in that journey, our collaboration with Minijet Inc. (website). Together, we are powering a bold new project that redefines what’s possible in the compact jet boating world.
“Working with Belassi is truly a dream come true - from the unmatched performance of their MPU 400, to the ideal nature of the powertrain’s architecture, to the level of support we’ve received during the integration phase, we really could not have asked for a better implementation and end user experience” says the Minijet team.
“The few customers who have had a sneak peek at the MPU 400 in our A2-11 have been thoroughly impressed and see it as a no-brainer for their next build - we expect to be ordering quite a few more in the near future”.
The centrepiece of this collaboration is our MPU 400 Turbo, a compact and powerful marine engine developed and assembled in Austria. It combines 400 hp of raw power with our integrated jet pump, brake, and trim system - delivering not only top-tier performance but also a true plug-and-play solution. As always, full engineering support is part of the package, ensuring seamless integration for each of our clients.
Minijet selected our powertrain for their new R&D build based on the A2-11 hull, an 11-foot low-profile kit boat with a finished weight of under 445 kg (980 lbs). With the MPU 400 at its core, this boat is on track to achieve unmatched results in terms of horsepower and power-to-weight ratio, becoming the most extreme platform Mini Jet has ever developed.
This project reflects exactly why we created the Marine Power Unit: to unlock new opportunities for innovative builders who are ready to challenge the status quo.
“Our mission is not only to deliver performance but to offer full engineering support and plug-and-play solutions that simplify integration for even the most ambitious projects.”
“This collaboration with Minijet Inc. is a clear demonstration of how the Belassi Marine Power Unit can empower custom builders to push boundaries without compromise,” adds Christopher Wilkinson, General Manager of Belassi GmbH.
One of the key advantages of the MPU 400 is its adaptability. Despite the high output, the installation into the A2-11 hull required no major modifications, only precision layout support from our team, including engine positioning, intake alignment, and a custom-length driveshaft coupling. Our ability to simplify the integration process is one of the reasons builders trust Belassi to power their most advanced concepts.
Expanding the Horizon
While Belassi is widely known for producing luxury personal watercraft, collaborations like this reflect our evolving strategy. Our Marine Power Unit is not just an engine - it’s a platform that enables high-performance builds across multiple segments, including jet tenders, mini jet boats, and custom watercraft.
With the North American market in focus, and partnerships like this paving the way, we’re excited to see what’s next, for our clients, for performance boating, and for Belassi.
